There’s a reason everybody from the President of the United States to Miami Heat’s Lebron James and everyday Internet marketing types (like us) collectively stopped what we were doing at the news of Steve Jobs’ death.

“#RIP Steve Jobs” became a top-trending topic on Twitter – along with “STAY HUNGRY” and “#iSad.”

Like most of you, we find it hard to imagine what our lives – as individuals, and as search engine optimization (SEO) specialists – would be like today if Steve Jobs hadn’t:

    • Met up with Apple Computer co-founder Steve Wozniak at Homebrew Computer Club in the mid-‘70s

    • Introduced us to that Ridley Scott “1984” Macintosh commercial produced at Super Bowl XVIII

    • Got fired by Apple (’85)

    • Rehired by Apple, after having shown the ropes to Pixar (’97)

    • Declined an offer to be Google’s CEO (imagine the possibilities now…)

    • Introduced us to the iPod

    • Hooked us on successive generations of the iPhone and, now, the iPad

    • Along the way, made jeans and sweaters acceptable office wear


This CliffsNotes version barely scrapes the surface of all the many different ways that Mr. Steve Jobs affected how technology, marketing and the Internet interact with us today and, in turn, how all of that changed our lifestyles.
