Just below the surface

While international investors and internet pundits alike have been scrutinizing Facebook's every move these days, LinkedIn has been quietly going about its business. They are continually enhancing their business-friendly offerings, being responsive to trends, and addressing the ongoing challenges of business marketers.

Just recently, LinkedIn announced improvements to its Group Search capabilities by now providing results that match your specific search with conversations currently taking place across all groups, while displaying any connections who might be in those groups.Don't fret because at LinkedIn's core still remains its networking, research and recruitment functionality. As you may recall we wrote about previously rolled out additional features that were launched in an effort to boost the effectiveness of your social media marketing strategy.

So what's next?

Two more powerful functions will be rolled-out later this year:

Targeted Updates

This will allow you to target followers by such criteria as:

Company size

Geography

Industry

Job function

Seniority

This advancement will enable you to refine your messages and focus on the audience you want to deliver to. LinkedIn internal studies have shown a 66+% increase in audience engagement as the result of targeted updates.

Follower Insights

Another layer in the analytics dashboard that will track followers' behaviors and demographics. Essential statistics to know whether your emphasis is on growing your online community or strategizing your next campaign.

We drink our own champaign

Back here at SEM Zen, our experiences with LinkedIn have gone above our expectations. When we wanted feedback on a new landing page from one of our marketing groups, we were psyched to find our peers were so eager to share their valuable insights and expertise. And when we needed a Joomla developer for a single project--boom--right on the talent search.

As the social media marketing scene gets increasingly crowded and competitive, LinkedIn just does it's thing and continues to make it easy for professionals to expand the reach of their community, network with colleagues, and search for prospective employees and clients. By the way, when's the last time you updated your profile? Or asked your group a question?

As usual we encourage you to let us know about your experiences with LinkedIn (both good and bad). Just leave us a comment below!
