In a previous blog post  "How Visual Inbound Marketing Can Turn Your Business Around" I shared that visual marketing through social media such as YouTube, Instagram, and Pinterest could help your business. Since I began working here I have been working daily with our social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest to see what is most effective. In this post I'd like to share with you how visual inbound marketing has helped our business grow through social media marketing

Taking Pictures of Your Company

company picnicLiterally the day I started work was the day that SEM Zen moved into it's new office. Now that we are growing as a company we needed to expand our space too. Our new office is three times as big as the old one and includes beautiful built in desks and cabinets. Since we were so excited about the new move we wanted to share our excitement with everyone else. Therefore, we took multiple pictures of our office, used Instagram to add effects, and started a Facebook album for everyone to see. Instragram is a great way to make the pictures look more attractive and catch people's attention. Our clients were able to see what the new office looked like and share their opinions on the new space. It gets them excited to come in for a visit and keep up the face-to-face.

Even if you didn't move into a new office you can still share what your space looks like to your Facebook Fans because it will help them get a more personal view on you and your business. It's like opening up your home to your customers. Another great idea is to occasionally post pictures of what your employees are up to. Maybe you are having a company lunch or a business weekend retreat. If so, take pictures to show customers what you are up to and what you do for your company. If you have an event coming up such as a company picnic or a charity event that your business is sponsoring, take pictures and show everyone how everything went. Taking pictures of your company can really help customers get a visual feel for who you are and what you do helping them feel a connection to the company.

Posting Pictures That Relate to Your Business

Not only should you post pictures of your actual company but also ones that relate to your business. This shows that you are constantly learning new things about your business and willing to share it with others. Sometimes we'll share photos from others or find ones ourselves that relate to our business. For example, we shared this picture on Facebook and Twitter about blogging. It is very pertinent to us and shares with others why we think blogging is so important for businesses. Sometimes pictures like these remind you why you do what you do.

Even when you're not at work you may be reading a newspaper article and find that it somehow relates to your business. This is a great opportunity to share it on Facebook and Twitter and begin a discussion about it. News articles often times come with an eye catching image attached to it. This always helps a great and informative article draw in customers to read it. According to the Social Media Scientist, "on Facebook, photos perform best for likes, comments, and shares as compared to text, video, and links." Pictures get people's attention more than just words so take advantage and share something that your know others will like to see.

Fun & Entertaining

Another way to catch customers attention is posting fun and entertaining photos on your social media sites. It could be something that anyone can relate to. The purpose is to get people interested in your page and stay engaged with your company. If someone finds you to be fun and entertaining they may start looking at your page more often just to see what you post next. Also, if someone were to like, comment, or share something you posted on your page it will show up on their friends newsfeeds for everyone to see. This could catch the attention of their friends and hopefully lead to a new "like" on your page. We found this picture posted by Mashable-Business and found it interesting enough to share it on our page. We received multiple "likes" and comments on the picture because they thought it was fascinating themselves. Sometimes it's nice to just share a good laugh or something interesting to start up a conversation. Starting conversations are very important in social media because it keeps others engaged and interested in you.

Infographics

Infographics are a way for companies to get their message across through pictures and facts all in one. It is an eye catching way to share information to your customers without making them read a long and detailed message or blog (wink, wink). Infographics can be found on Pinterest and can help you share with others topics  related to your business. For example, we have boards for inbound marketing, social media, email marketing, blogging, SEO, and more. Pinterest has numerous categories such as home decor, architecture, hair and beauty, science and nature, technology, outdoors, and more. It's becoming very popular because of how much people love to look at pictures. It's easy, convenient, and entertaining at the same time. According to Social Media Max, 405 minutes a month are spent on Pinterest, the same amount as Facebook! I didn't think we would find much that would be helpful for our company but surprisingly we have been very successful with it. They are very informative and tell you facts and statistics that you had no idea about. Many of the social media ones give you ideas of what you should be doing on social media to get more traffic. You can even create your own infographics with information that you find yourself and can directly relate to your business.

Maybe even create one with statistics from the last month to make it a fun way to share with your customers. Infographics are meant to spread useful information without boring people to the point where they don't even read it. Use infographics to let your customers know how your company is doing and what you can provide for them. One you either find an infographic or create one share it on Pinterest, Facebook, and Twitter for everyone to see.
