I'll Still Give You Something To Tweet AboutTwitter

In Part 1, I explained to you the first 3 Reasons To Use Twitter In Your Social Media Marketing. Social media marketing has taken off for many companies and it's about time you learn how it can help yours. In the previous blog I mentioned that Twitter can help you gain new customers by retweeting, replying, mentioning, and hashtagging. These are all ways to get exposure for your company's name as well as spread news about yourself. It could also help you if you don't have an ad budget because it is free and a great way to drive customers to your website. You can always tweet links that catch others attention that will lead them to your website. Twitter is also great for small businesses because it takes less than two minutes to tweet something for your company. It's a short and simple way to say what you have to offer someone and why they should look into your company.

Now that I've refreshed your memory, let's move on to the last 3 reasons why Twitter should be a part of your social media marketing.

4. Offer Incentives

Everyone loves to get deals on products or services, especially now with the couponing kick. People are looking through everything in order to get coupons including couponing sites, company websites, catalogs, and now even Twitter. I know for a fact because I've tried it before when I wanted to know what all the fuss was about for couponing. FYI, it wasn't as easy as I thought. Many businesses get new followers because of incentives they host on Twitter. I've personally seen many coupon ads offering 20% of an item if they print the coupon and use it within 2 days. You can also ask followers to retweet deals so they can spread the word to those that follow them. Another way is to promote specific deals going on is to have them use a certain codes to enter. This can lead them right to your website where they may just wander through. If you offer incentives it will bring people to follow you and once you tweet more about your company it can help them become a loyal customer.

5. Show Them Your Great Customer Service

Twitter is a great way to show customers how awesome your customer service is. If they have questions... answer them. Don't leave them ignored because then they will think that's how your customer service always is. Show them that you care about them and want to help. If they reply to a tweet, write back. Whether it's an answer or just a general response. Show your customers that they are appreciated. Don't only use your Twitter once in a blue moon. Post something new about your company, a funny picture, an inspiring quote. Show your personality because it proves that you can be true to your customers. You may be able to connect to customers on a more personal level showing that you understand them. The more of a connection they have with you the more they will stay loyal. Think about it... when you go into a store and an employee starts off with small talk and wants to find out more about you doesn't it intrigue you more than when they get right to the point and just want to sell you something? I don't know about you but the more fun and easy going an employee is to me the more I want to buy something from them. Show them that if they were to receive a product or service from you, you'll help them along the way. In Social Customer Service, it was said that "73% of customers spend more with a company because of a history of good customer service". Isn't that reason enough?

6. Be Informative Through Creativity

Last but not least, Twitter is a great opportunity to be creative and catch prospective customers attention. Make your page attractive and tell them what your company is about. Not only should you have a description of your company under your picture but you should also tell them what your company is about through your picture. If you have a business about landscaping then put up a picture of one of your jobs with your company name over it. When your tweet pops up on someones timeline you need to catch their attention right away and help them understand who you are and what you can do for them. This can be the deciding factor on if they want to click on your Twitter page. Once they are on your Twitter page they should also see a background that represents your business. Show them that you care about your business and want them as customers. What you put into your page represents what you would put into helping them.
